HOUSTON, Sept. 30 – OGX Petroleo e Gas Participacoes SA said its OGX-19A-RJS well confirmed the existence of a light oil play in sandstones of Santonian age in the shallow-water Santos basin off Brazil.
The well, on the company's 100% owned BM-S-58 block, encountered a 145-m oil column with 40 m of net pay. The well is on the Aracaju prospect in 172 m of water 112 km off the coast.
The well is projected to 5,250 m and is still drilling. It confirms the existence of the play initially identified in the company's OGX-11 well.
OGX-11, on the Natal prospect, found 41° gravity oil and gas-condensate on the BM-S-59 block in 170 m of water last June. OGX has 100% interest in both blocks.
