COMENTARIO DO BLOGUEIRO:

GE to acquire Wellstream
Last Updated Dec 2010
GE announced 13 December 2010 its plans to acquire flexible pipeline company Wellstream Holdings for about $1.3 billion.
The deal, expected to close 1Q 2011, will broaden GE's reach in the subsea production systems and FPSO markets, GE said in a release.
'The proposed acquisition is part of GE's growth strategy to invest in its high-technology industrial businesses, enhance product competitiveness and expand its presence in fast-growing emerging markets,' particularly in Brazil, GE said.
UK-based Wellstream in 2007 opened a manufacturing facility in the port of Niterói, Brazil, near Rio de Janeiro. 'Brazil is a key region for GE and the proposed acquisition of Wellstream, along with the expansion of our Jandira, Sao Paulo Oil & Gas plant and the planned 2012 opening of a new $100 million investment GE Global Research Center in Rio de Janeiro, demonstrates our long-term commitment to this fast-growing region,' said GE Oil & Gas president and CEO Claudio Santiago.
Also on Monday, Wood Group announced plans to acquire Aberdeen-based energy services company PSN for $955 million to create a brownfield services company Wood Group PSN. The deal is expected to close 2Q 2011.
